MEET THE TEAM

Alex Springer, Founder 

Alex leads the vision for Fifth State and is passionate about addressing the chronic undersupply of affordable, high-quality residential accommodation in urban locations. His background includes 8 years in the Investment Team at Knight Frank, where he became a member of RICS.

In addition to his work at Fifth State, Alex is involved with several social enterprises. Alex founded HitClubUK, which has collectively fundraised over £600,000.

 

Alex also serves as Co-Chairman of St Pancras Amateur Boxing Club, a community hub for Camden that partners with local schools, police, and probation officers to help young people develop self-belief, determination, and employability skills. 

Geoffrey Springer, Partner 

Geoff works with Fifth State, London & Regional Properties and multiple charities.

Geoff joined Alex at Fifth State at the early stages of its inception, bringing a wealth of experience, expertise, and execution in planning, construction, and transactions.

Before joining L&R Geoff directly built c. 10m sq. ft of residential and commercial space. He is currently responsible for managing L&R's largest developments,
He has achieved planning on complex sites to include, Albert Island industrial development over 800,000 sq ft, Westferry Road, 770 residential units and Elizabath House, Waterloo 1,350,000 sq ft mixed-use.

Geoff is co-chair of St Pancras ABC and supports Newham Boxing ABC, Jewish Care, London Maccabi Lions and multiple educational charities and schools, giving his time and knowledge.

Stewart Moore, Non-Executive Director 

Stewart joined Fifth State in 2023 as Non-Executive Director to add operational insight by delivering operational efficiency through asset and organisational design.


Stewart was previously Chief Customer Officer at Retirement Villages, part of AXA, the UK’s oldest and largest provider of retirement communities. Before that, Stewart was CEO of CRM Students, where he was instrumental in the growth from 3,000 beds to over 24,000 beds within PBSA, BTR and co-living.

James McDonnell, Development Manager

James joined Fifth State as a Development Manager in 2024 to help manage the planning application process, discharging conditions and underwrite new development opportunities. 

James previously worked as a planning consultant for over 2 years at Avison Young’s London planning consultancy. During his time at Avison Young, James secured and delivered a number of complex planning permissions across a range of residential and commercial sectors in London and the south-east. Prior to this, James worked as a planning officer at the London Borough of Ealing.
